Training Day 17 - Carlyon Bay - Polkerris Beach Return (8 miles - 3 hours)
Slotted this one in before pitching up at St Austell 'town centre' to help out with our latest tin collection - incidentally we raised £63 which wasn't bad under the circumstances - those being the weather. I think we're cursed for every Saturday to be blowy and rainy. Thanks to Claire Netherton, Sue Tucker, Heather Davison, Di Hart and Becs (oh yes, Tracey Goss for sliding out for a bit after her overtime stint!).
The walk itself reminded me what a mess Cornwall can make of planning permission. How that Carlyon Bay debacle is still rumbling on beats me and then walking on towards Par Beach you're forced to detour round the monstrosity that is Par docks and through a caravan site before rejoining the path towards Polkerris beach and the 300 year old, former Coastguard station, now the Rashleigh Inn. Muddy, windy, flat but beautiful stretch of coast path.
Thought for the day:
Stay out of your comfort zone, take at least one small risk, and do at least one thing that nobody says thank you for.
